Akron Woman’s City Club

Membership Information

 

          The Akron Woman’s City Club was founded in 1923 as a place where woman could meet to discuss Subjects of interest, hold seminars for continuing education, promote charitable events, and serve as a meeting place for women of Akron.  Today it remains as one of the oldest clubs for women in the United States.  Its membership is now open to both men and women.

          The Club presents professional dining services in its formal dining room, terrace, ballroom, private party, and meeting rooms.  There is ample and convenient free lighted parking.  The interest groups, called sections, range from the educational through the creative; our Gallery exhibits encourage area artists and there are special Club-wide events and parties.  The membership falls into the following categories:

Senior Active:  Has all the rights and privileges of the club, including participation in governance.  This is open to any adult woman 40 or older.  The initiation fee is currently waived in honor of our 80th Anniversary and the dues are payable in full, half-year, or quarterly.  Spouses have the same rights and privileges, excluding the right to vote and participation in governance, without additional dues.

Junior Active: Has all the rights and privileges of the Club, excluding voting and participation in governance.  This is open to any woman 21 up to 40, at which time she may transfer to senior membership and pay senior dues.  The initiation fee is currently waived as above and the dues are payable in full, half-year, or quarterly.

Men’s Associate: Has all the rights and privileges of the club, excluding voting and participation in governance.  This is open to any adult man, 21 and older.  The initiation fee is waived as above and the dues are payable in full, half-year, or quarterly.

Dining Membership: This membership is open to both men and women who work fulltime.  In addition to the Dining privileges, this membership category offers the use of the Ballroom, private party, and meeting rooms for a fee and permits attendance at Club-wide events and functions.  Governance and Sections are excluded.  There is no initiation fee and the dues are payable in full, half-year, or quarterly.
