A Legacy of Elegance Since 1923

clubhouseThe Akron Woman's City Club was established

in 1923 as a place where women could meet

to discuss subjects of interest, hold seminars

for education, promote charitable events, and

serve as a social center and meeting place for

women of Akron. Today it remains one of the

oldest and largest clubs for women in America.

CHARITY OF THE MONTH

June 2013

Thanks to all who have been so generous throughout the year with the children from Portage Path School, the Battered Women's Shelter, Children's Hospital coloring supplies and the Greater Akron Humane Society. All of our donations have been greatly appreciated.

SPOTLIGHT ON:  AWCC NEEDLEWORK SECTION!

A big thanks to all who donated to our "Giving Tree" at Christmas! We were able to donate over 100 pairs of gloves and 2 dozen knit hats to Portage Path School.

A special thanks to the Needlework Section who knitted many of the hats and gloves. You warmed their hands and hearts!

AWCC PLAYMAKERS UNIT!

Our annual Ettiquette Tea was held in May for a group of 5th grade girls from Portage Path and Helen Arnold schools who have completed a course in ettiquette at their respective schools. The girls were adorned with "fascinators" made by Playmakers and coordinated by Robbie Williams, Portage Path Counselor as part of their special occasion attire. The tea was concluded with a tour of our clubhouse and a lovely time was had by all!

If you would like to help in assisting the teachers at Portage Path, please contact coordinator Barb Jurkovic.

ALL OF OUR MEMBERS AND SPOUSES!

A big THANK YOU to the spouses, members, Board of Trustees, and employees of the AWCC for helping make the 13th Annual Policeman’s Buffet a success on January 19-20, 2013.

We served over 100 women and men of the Akron Police Dept. - a 6% increase over last years attendance! All of the officers expressed appreciation and gratitude to us for putting on this event over the years and our support of them.
